Going Green… Revisited
Are you “Going Green?” Have you been asked that recently? If not directly from someone in your life, you certainly have by the media. Curious that only ten years ago the media wanted to have nothing to do with the projects and people being “Eco-friendly,” unless it was some left-wing liberal uber-hippy newsletter. Yet today, there isn’t an issue of Newsweek, the Economist, any major newspaper, or even commercials on television that aren’t showcasing the benefits of living a “greener” lifestyle. In a previous blog post I ranted a bit about the contradicting motivation for people going green – just doing it for the dollar and not embracing it fully won’t get the planet where it needs to be. If a company has been “going green” – ask them if they know the definition of “sustainability” and see what comes back. If you yourself don’t know – stay tuned because there’s going to be a “Filling in the Green blanks” article coming up soon.
Regardless – our industry of promotional products IS making headway. More and more new products are at least being made with the environment in mind at least a little bit. Question the motives or not, the fact remains that more promotional product suppliers are realizing that people WANT to be Green whether they fully understand what that means or not.
Here at OSP we pride ourselves for being as Eco-Friendly as possible, and not just in the office with how we operate our business, but in trying to sell sustainable products that will leave the smallest mark on the planet while the biggest mark on your client. Some of the newer products to come across are desk include:
Seeded download cards – They are music download cards that after use, you can plant, they biodegrade and grow into wild flowers… AWESOME!
Plantable Ad-Ornaments – Paper products (coasters, invitations, wine bags, etc) – infused with seeds. Same idea and then BAM – you’ve got flowers.
Envirofolder – Folders for the office that are made of 100% post-consumer recycled chipboard
Recycled Cardboard Journal – Journals with a cover made from 100% recycled cardboard with 100 sheets of unlined recycled paper – with an embossed logo on front.
We are also extremely impressed by what EGM Green has managed to do in expanding the reach of the Green community. They have managed to revolutionize the gambling industry creating Eco-Friendly gambling tables and furniture! They currently have blackjack, roulette, poker and even craps tables and are working on Baccarat and chairs and lounge furniture to transform the industry.
